I had a great drive to Calgary on Tuesday afternoon. I was downtown in just over 2 hours, I am unsure how I made such good time, I wasn’t overly speeding.
I checked into the hotel, the Sandman, right near my office. The hotel is undergoing renovations so it was a bit inconvenient. The pool was closed which sort of sucked since I had called the reservation desk to confirm that the hotel had a pool and was told yes and it was open 5:30am – 11:00pm… I guess no one told the reservation desk that it was closed. Anyway, because of this, they gave me free parking, even though it should really be free anyway.
The hotel, unfortunately, it a bit run-down. The room was clean and fresh, but the bathroom needs some major work, so does the AC. I left a negative review on Bookings.com where I booked the room. The staff were friendly anyway.
Tuesday night was the Babe Ruth year-end banquet. A bunch of the Board Members met at a pub near the banquet hall for a couple of pre-banquet drinks and some appetizers. The banquet was good, food was great, the entertainment, not so much. The magician wasn’t particularly good, I didn’t think. I will reserve other comments. All in all, it was a good night and nice to see people I have worked with for the past 5 seasons. I will miss working with Babe Ruth Calgary.
I worked in the Calgary office on Wednesday. It was good to see people that I have not seen in a while. Wednesday night, I went to Red Lobster for endless shrimp with a co-worker, ex-co-worker and my buddy from Crowsnest Pass who came to Calgary with me. Great good there, love shrimp. The drive home was uneventful.
The dogs were in a new kennel near my house. I picked them up Thursday morning. They were a bit tired, not their normal routine. Crowsnest Pet Care came to pick them up for their weekly pack hike about an hour after we got home. Hera didn’t want to go though, I think she wanted some down-time with me and that’s OK.
So, the week zoomed by and here we are on Friday already. I have not watched any of the World Series as I was busy both Tuesday and Wednesday nights but I plan on catching it tonight. Boston is ahead 2-0 and I hope they sweep.
No weekend plans I don’t think. We will go for a hike, depending on the weather, as long as it doesn’t rain we will go. Cold, we can handle the cold, we are Canadian.
Enjoy your weekend.
