Woke up at 3:45am yesterday to head to the airport for a flight to Toronto. A little early for my tastes, but just about the regular time that I have been waking up recently for some odd, unknown reason.
I had pre-arranged a cab to pick me up at 5am. It was there a bit early, so off to the airport I went.
Check-in was a snap. For some reason though, the machine would not spit out luggage tags at me so I had to wait in lineup number 1 to check my bag. I wasn’t sure if it would be over-weight or not, it felt pretty damn heavy but it was only (yes, only) 20kg. I was going to be away from home for 10 days, so, that works out to 2kg per day. Not too bad, right?
I guess it took about 15-20 minutes to make it though that line. Now, off to security. Another 20 minutes or so and I am through – all in all, not a bad experience really.
At this point, it is about 6am and my flight is not boarding until 6:35, scheduled to leave at 7am. For some reason, I don’t think that I have ever been on a flight that has boarded nor left on time. Yesterday was an exception.
In the air by 7:10 or so and off to Toronto. A fairly uneventful flight, a little turbulence when we were coming into Toronto, but otherwise pretty smooth and it seemed pretty quick. It is nice that they offer TV on flights now so that helped to kill some time.
Arrived in Toronto around 12:35pm (Eastern). Grabbed a quick lunch and waited for our shuttle to Collingwood for my conference.
I have been all over the province in my 40 years living here, but, I have never been to Collingwood. We are staying at Blue Mountain. Very nice facility. My room is amazing – better than most of the apartments that I have lived in. It has a balcony, fire place, full kitchen and a dining room. Not bad at all.
We are here until Thursday afternoon then head back to Toronto and then off to Niagara for 5 days before returning to Calgary. I am sure it will go by pretty quickly.
Enjoy your week, I am sure I will enjoy mine.
